DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY

Marko Đurić (1985) studied Serbian literature and language at the Faculty of Philosophy in Niš from 2004 to 2007. From 2007 to 2012, he studied at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. He graduated in theatre directing in 2011, in the class of Egon Savin and Dušan Petrović, with the production Poor Little Hamsters by Gordan Mihić at the National Theatre in Kikinda.

He worked as an assistant to director Aleksandar Popovski on the production Candide, or Optimism at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre and directed the radio drama Taxi Driver by Emil Destani, broadcast on Radio Belgrade 2 as part of the programme Spider’s Web. At the “Vuk Karadžić” Cultural Institution in Belgrade, he directed Stardust by Dušan Kovačević, while at the Academic Theatre in Niš he directed Art by Yasmina Reza and The Women’s Orchestra by Jean Anouilh. In April 2012, he adapted and directed William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with members of the Association of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing People in Niš, with whom he participated in the Festival of Dramatic Miniatures and Pantomime in Pirot. In June 2013, he directed Will Tomorrow Be Better? by Evald Flisar at the “Toša Jovanović” National Theatre in Zrenjanin.

Fight Club is his first production as a director at the National Theatre in Niš.
